Gardening soothes the soul

Gardening allows the soul to breathe. Yesterday I had my hands in the dirt, weeding, digging, planting and loving it all. My garden is growing nicely and it's teaching me about life at the same time. The attention I pay, the dedication & devotion I give, the care & thought and love are all necessary for my garden to thrive. I'm out there every day taking care of it, tending to it's needs. It requires me to be fully present, and when I'm out in my backyard, when I'm standing in the middle of everything lush and ripe and full and green and I'm breathing all of it in, my soul seems to breathe with it. It's so satisfying and lovely. If you want to do something nice for yourself, get a pot or find a place in the dirt and grow something. Be a part of the earth and get your hands a little dirty. It's so rewarding. Happy growing to both you and your garden!

Celebrity Drinking

Now for more celebrity humiliation. David Hasselhoff's daughter videotaped her dad on the floor completely drunk trying to eat a hamburger. Wonder who leaked this one? Another disgruntled wife in the middle of a nasty 'who gets the kid and when' fight. Dorothy Lucey rolls her eyes on FOX-LA this morning, saddened that they're showing the footage, not just once but multiple times. Hey tabloid fodder brings in viewers, isn't that a proven fact? Celebrities placed up on a pedestal must eventually come down. That's gravity for you. Is global warming the culpret in the recent pull of gravity on these celebrities 'cause they're sure coming down fast & furious these days. Alec Baldwin, Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson, Michael Richards, Don Imus (who is sueing CBS for 120 million dollars), etc . . . Brace yourself, there are going to be more.

Forgiveness

Don Imus was doing his job and got fired. He's said some pretty wild things over his years on the radio, but this one did him in. He said he was sorry for what he said. His apology was accepted by the girl's basketball team. Where's the forgiveness from the public? (Mainly from his sponsors who were responsible for getting his show cancelled.) I can't believe that Bill O'Reilly is still on the air considering the things that come out of his mouth. He's far worse than Don Imus. His verbal abuse isn't a mistake; it's well calculated and what he truly believes.

Alec Baldwin seems to be making some headway with his plea for forgiveness. But the damage is done and his family (Kim & daughter Ireland) must deal with the aftermath.

Mel Gibson's career will be forever tainted due to his drunken blunder. It's a shame because his movies are so good, especially the films that he's directed, "The Passion of Christ" and "Apocalyto."

Rosie O'Donnell is in trouble with ABC for her thoughts on 911 and her statements that building 7 couldn't have come down without the help of explosives. She doesn't blame our government. She just wants to have a conversation about it and invite those who know building demolition on the The View. But alas, she won't have that opportunity.

What's happening to freedom of speech?
Why don't we all just use our channel changers and allow there to be content on television for everyone. I don't have to watch your show and you don't have to watch mine, but they're both there and we can check out each other's shows just to see what's going on in the world. Let's all stay open minded. And remember that we may need to be forgiven one day for a mistake that we make.

Gas Prices

I've been reading articles in the L.A. Times about Chevron, Exxon & Valero stating that their earnings have increased - along with the gas prices we're paying. Why is this okay? Why aren't Americans crazy with rage? The media has even forewarned us (to buffer the upcoming blow?) that gas prices are likely to reach $4.00/gallon this summer. We keep hearing that the summer blend of gas is more expensive. But the 14 gallons ($3.69/gallon) of gas that I put into my car yesterday is just contributing to making the big oil companies richer. My boyfriend just bought an old Mercedes-Benz diesel and went bio-diesel. His gas is more expensive than mine, but he can go further on it and it's better for the environment. Electric cars must be made available again and at prices that people can actually afford. Saturn had done it before. See a great movie, "Who Killed The Electric Car?"
